摘要:The paper tries to clarify that the theory of Multiple Intelligence corresponds with theNew Curriculum Standard of English Teaching. It can direct the English teachers about howto improve the students’English learning.

Besides, their skills of acquiring new knowledge ability,analyzing and solving problem should also be trained. In the schedule of teaching, theability of language expression and cooperation should also be included. According to theserequirements, the English teaching in senior high school should be reformed. The MI theorycan give a good guidance to the reform of the English teaching in high school. Formal English teaching has existed in China since 1862. During this long period,English teaching conception from foreign countries have a huge influence on the Englishteaching in China. Of course, while we accept the English teaching conceptions fromforeign countries, we also exploit our own ways and form our own features. These featurestake their roots in China’s social system, teaching objectives, the features of English, thefeatures of the teachers and learning conditions. The features of English teaching in seniorhigh school can be generally divided into five parts.

2.2 MI- based Teaching Practice
The application and practice of the MI-based teaching in America has been carried fornearly thirty years. Among the teaching cases, Gardner himself takes part in or directs someof them and the MI theory has been properly fulfilled. Therefore, these cases make manyachievements. The reason why they chose spectrum as the name of the project was that every childpossessed various intelligence and tendency as spectrum. The researchers hoped to arousethe teachers and the parents’ awareness of intelligences. As long as they would regardintelligences in a broader way, a person’s potential can have more chances to show. ProjectSpectrum proposes to provide the children with all kinds of activity materials, in order tosupport the children to study in different ways. In this project, the children can find out anddevelop the advantages so that they can make progress with a best way. Singular School, one of the most famous public schools, has become a typicallysuccessful case of the MI theory in teaching, whose achievement has been praised byGardner. The overall aim of Singular School is to develop each aspect of intelligence ofevery student.
