Chapter Two Literature Review and Theoretical Framework


2.1 Mind Map
The concept of Mind Map is initiated by the world famous English scholar andeducator Tony Buzan. It is a way of drawing thoughts by using words and it is easyfor people to remember. During the process of drawing a map, people need to usecolor to make it clearer and obvious. Drawing the map follows a set of simple, basic,natural rules which is easy to be accepted by the brain because of the use of lines,symbols, words and images when drawing a map and there is a radiant naturalstructure after the central image or word is set(Tony, 2006). Therefore, Mind Mapcan make a long set of boring information into colorful pictures which are highlyorganized and easy to understand.Mind Map is the expression of radiant thinking, and radiant thinking is theinnermost representation of Mind Map as the new concept of development of thinking(Tony, 2000). As Mind map is always radiant from a central point, the wholesynthesized picture just spreads from the center in the form of endless branch chains,with each word or image as a center or association. With a centered image, the pictureis easy to grasp and the information is easy to master and read. As we all know,radiant thinking is a very natural or almost natural thinking pattern, which is suitablefor all human beings to think and act. A brain which can use radiant thinking shouldexpress itself in the form of divergent thinking and it will reflect the thinking modelof the brain itself.Mind Map is a very useful and effective graphical thinking tool by combiningthe traditional language intelligence, digital intelligence and the creative intelligence(Tony, 2009). It immediately became world famous when it was introduced into theworld by Tony Buzan. As a revolutionary thinking, learning, management tool of the21stcentury, Mind Map has been used in all kinds of fields such as learning, writing,communication, family, education, speech making, management and the conference.The learning capability and the clear thinking pattern by using Mind Map havesuccessfully changed the thinking habit of more than 250 million people. As thecreator of the thinking tool which is recognized as sharp as the Swiss army knife(Tony, 2000), Tony Buzan established his reputation as the “intelligence magician”because of inventing the simple and clear thinking tool—Mind Map.
