4.1 Experimental Objective
Compared with the traditional vocabulary teaching method, contextual teaching methodhas grown as a new power that people do not have certain perspective on. The objective of theexperiment is to explore the truth that how does the teacher conduct the vocabulary teachingin context for real? What is the better way to set up the authentic language context tostimulate students’ interest in vocabulary learning? What is a better way to create a kind ofcontext to consolidate the vocabulary they have learned?The experimental research in this thesis chooses some students in Class one and Classtwo of Grade two from Handan Xianfeng Senior High School. According to the score ofstudents, they are ranked as excellent learners, average learners and poor learners and thenumber of students is 60 in total. Class one and Class two are parallel classes according to allthe important tests of last year, taught by the same teacher. As the students at the same level atEnglish learning, they will learn the same content at the same rate of progress. The reasonwhy the research chooses the sophomore as the experimental subject is that they do want tohave a self-examination and reflection on their English study with the guide of learningstrategy to enhance the English achievement, namely, preparing for the College EntranceExamination. The thirty students of Class One, namely experimental class, will be taught bycontextual teaching method, while the thirty students of Class Two, namely control class, willbe taught by the traditional teaching method.

Conclusion
Based on the English vocabulary learning theory, this thesis has studied the contexttheory on the aspects of definition, connotation, classification and function. Based on aboveall, the author has conducted a serious of experiments about the application and the effect ofcontext theory on the English vocabulary teaching in senior high school, and also shows theapplication of context teaching method in daily teaching. Experimental results demonstratethat the students from the experimental class have made very distinguished improvement ontheir learning interest on English knowledge, and they have made a success on developmentof vocabulary using ability. More high achievers are made out of experimental class and theachievement of the whole class is much better than the control class. Going so far as to thestudents of control class, the whole class almost stays in the same situation of Englishlearning.
