(4) Listeners’ response: during the conversation, we can interrupt the speakerand ask for repetition or clarification.

(5) Speakers’ adjustment: the speakers can adjust the way of speaking accordingto the listeners’ reaction such as rephrasing or elaborating.

The questionnaire survey data from 60 teachers and 226 students were analyzed.Through SPSS 23.0, this part of statistical analysis is to find out the current situationof TM in ELT.

5.1 Major Findings

Understanding teachers’ and students’ perception on the importance TM andteachers’ practical TM in ELT can provide some teaching suggestions for teachers inlistening teaching, so as to improve teaching quality and promote students’ listeninglearning. The purpose of this study is to investigate the views of senior high schoolEnglish teachers and students on the importance of teacher mediation in Englishlistening teaching. Secondly, the senior high school English teachers’ practice on TMin ELT. Third, the factors affecting English teachers’ practice on TM in ELT. The mainfindings will be summarized from questionnaires and interviews.
