摘要:本文是一篇高中英语教学论文,在本研究中,作者运用文献综述、问卷调查、课堂观察、访谈等研究工具,研究了如何在新课程标准的指导下,将多元智能理论与英语阅读教学活动相结合,本章总结了本研究的主要发现、对教学的启示、本研究的局限性以及对未来研究的建议。

English learning and understanding ability refers to the ability of learners toexperience and participate in English language learning,as well as the ability to useEnglish language to learn scientific knowledge and obtain information,includingobservation and attention ability,memory and retrieval ability,information extractionability and generalization ability.Comprehension activities,for example:teachers create asituation,activate students’existing knowledge and experience around the theme,pavingthe way for the necessary language and cultural background knowledge,getting theproblem solved.

Chapter Two Theoretical Foundation and Methodology

2.1 Theoretical Foundation

This part introduces the theoretical foundation of the research,including the definitionof intelligence,the connotation of Multiple Intelligences theory and related teachingactivities to have a general understanding of key items.

2.1.1 The Definition of Intelligence

There are different understandings about the definition of intelligence at home andabroad.In western psychology,there are four main interpretations of intelligence:First,itrefers to the ability of individuals to adapt to the environment.German psychologistSten(1985)pointed out that intelligence refers to the individual’s conscious thinkingactivities to adapt to a new situation potential.Swiss psychologist Piaget(2001)believedthat the essence of intelligence is adaptation.The second refers to the ability of individualsto learn.The main representatives of this view are Buckinghan,Colvin,Hammond,etc.;thirdly,intelligence is the ability to process information.The main representative of thisview is Sternberg;fourth,intelligence is the ability of abstract thinking.The representativefigures of this view are Binet and Terman.In our country,most psychologists believe thatintelligence refers to the organic synthesis of various abilities of individual cognition,including observation,memory,thinking,imagination,attention,etc.,among which theabstract logical thinking ability is the core of intelligence.The above several views onintelligence are not contradictory to each other,but reflect the multi-level and multi-facetednature of intelligence.

2.2 Research Questions

In high school English reading teaching,reading activity design is one of the mostimportant links.Good activities have a high degree of participation,diverse forms and richcontent,and can promote the improvement of students’reading ability and the overalldevelopment of comprehensive quality.Based on the theory of Multiple Intelligences,this research analyzes the current combination of reading instructional design activities andMultiple Intelligences theory.The research questions to be addressed in the study are thefollowing:

1.What problems do English teachers have in differential teaching of reading?

2.Under the guidance of Multiple Intelligences theory,how can teachers effectivelydesign reading activities to improve students’English reading level?
