a process of successive Approximation.Language learning may affect you emotionally.Learning a new language may be especially difficult for some people. ”From the above analysis, it can be inferred that the target students' Englishlearning belief and strategy have certain characteristics. As what is made clear before,the students in the school prefer the mother tongue belief and mother tongue strategy.The students’ learning belief and strategy also have some correlations. The studentswho prefer mother tongue belief would rather take form-focused strategy, and this isa typical situation of this school, which can be regarded as a case in Chinese seniorhigh school's English learning.
Updating foreign language learning beliefs can be an important way to improvelearning results. Contemporary foreign language teaching belief praises highly thateffective learning strategies training can help make learners work autonomously; butlearning belief is the prerequisite of autonomous learning and strategy training. Willstrategy training be successfully brought into foreign language teaching, it isneccssary to make clear the beliefs of foreign language learners and help them tounderstand and correct the mistakes of foreign language learning beliefs, graduallyset up the correct beliefs of foreign language learning. Thus, changes should be madein the foreign language learning beliefs before the whole teaching courses start.
The experience of the theory of learning belief and learning strategy is also veryimportant. The second language/foreign language learners, especially adult learners,all have the specific learning concepts, and these original learning beliefs in languagelearning may influence the use of learning strategies (Abraham & Vann, 1987), butonce they hold the wrong learning beliefs, those can produce negative influence,because the learners' language learning anxiety mainly results from their learningbeliefs. Therefore, the teachers should not only teach the learners languageknowledge, but also help learners master correct study beliefs. To do this, thelanguage teachers/researchers must do a lot of investigations, especially researchbased on specific schools to get the experiment data and real situation. In this way,the teaching methods will fit into the schools and students more, and can receivebetter results. The learners themselves who understand the relationship betweenlearning beliefs and strategies will also initiatively make choices of beliefs andstrategies that can work most effectively for them in order to learning the languagewell, and at the same time, to achieve the most effective results.
