摘要:The thesis makes a research about the Interactive Approach to English Assignment designbased on the New Curriculum Standards. With the development of our education, the NewCurriculum Reform put emphasis on the students’ active performance, eagerness to makequestions and participation in more practice.
Chapter I Introduction
1.1 Background of the Research
English assignment plays an important part in teaching and learning activities, which canimprove the students’ learning abilities and promote the students’ social skills. Englishassignment is considered as the tools to check the effect of the teachers teaching and the effortsof the students learning. Based on the New Curriculum Standards, the assignment must bedesigned to apply the knowledge learned in class to the practice. Therefore, creatingopportunities to accomplish the tasks is very important. Firstly, assignment can be designed toimprove the students’ abilities, including reading, listening, speaking and writing. Secondly, theassignment can be designed to arouse the interests of the students, causing the students to offer tolearn English. Thirdly, with the development of the Education, compared with the traditionalassignment, the new kind of assignment will provide the opportunities for the parents toparticipating, which can help the students to form good habits of learning strategies, includingtheir communicative strategies, resources strategies, cognitive strategies and monitor strategies.Finally, as the world developed, different country with different language has his native culture,which requires deep understanding of the cross-cultural. According to the English CurriculumStandards 2001: 6, there are some curriculum goals to achieve:Language skills: Listening, speaking, reading, and writing are the main parts, whilevocabulary, grammar, functions, and topics should be taken into consideration.

1.2 Significance of the research
The thesis makes a research about the Interactive Approach to English Assignment designbased on the New Curriculum Standards. With the development of our education, the NewCurriculum Reform put emphasis on the students’ active performance, eagerness to make questions and participation in more practice. Students should be encouraged to grasp theknowledge and skills independently with the help of teachers. It is necessary to have a clearunderstanding of the nature of assignment so that we can adopt an appropriate teachingmethodology accordingly. Assignment is an essential part of teaching, which is important forstudents to understand and consolidate what they learned recently, reinforcing their self-learningand practical abilities. As a matter of fact, through interviews and questionnaires, we found manyproblems in Senior English assignment design. Although some teachers designed new forms ofassignment, they pay more attention to the teaching process, unified standards, exercises, and theform of assignment. According to the New Curriculum Standards, cooperation and skills shouldbe taken into consideration, as well as the individual character. Because of the disadvantages,students will lose their interests, tired of learning.“TIPS”first adopted in the 1990s byAmerican is a new assignment design, which means aspecial cooperation among the students parents, their classmates, even their teachers. Just asBrown says, “Interaction is the collaborative exchange of thoughts, feelings, or ideas betweentwo or more people resulting in a reciprocal effect on each other.”(H. Douglas Brown, 2001:159).The interactive approach, which proposes that skills and knowledge at all level, should workwith each other to improve the students’ abilities.
