4.Data Analysis and Discussion


4.1 The Analysis of Teacher Talk
After watching the videos carefully and checking many times, the author made thematrix. The author chose four classes, so here are four matrixes. The author will show thedata in the tables. In this part, the author will analyze five aspects of class interaction by usingInformation Technology-based Interaction Analysis System. Because there are four teachersin the research, the author calls them Teacher A, Teacher B, Teacher C and Teacher D forshort. According to the Interaction Analysis System, each number has different meanings.Code one to seven are the Teacher Talk. Code eight to ten is the Students Talk. Code eleven tocode thirteen are silence or confusion. Code fourteen to eighteen are information technologyusing. All the data in the tables is from the four matrixes. The four matrixes will be shown inthe appendix part. The author will analyze the teacher talk; indirect and direct influence fromthe teacher; the positive and negative influence from the teacher; the students talk and theclassroom atmosphere.

Conclusion


Through the above statistics and data analysis, it is concluded that these four classeswhich the author observed were teacher-centered classes. Mostly, the teacher talked a lot andshe dominated the class. The teachers directly influenced their students. Students may be notmotivated to learn or to think by themselves. The teacher did not concentrate his attention onthe students’ development.From the data, it seems that the students talk time and the participation increased. In fact,the whole class is still controlled by the teacher. The students were still in a passive situation.As we know that in our real class situation, the teacher-centered teaching is still a main typeteaching method. Paulo Freire (1970) holds that the view that the teacher’s goal is to “fill” thestudents with the contents of his words. The students just are “filled” by the teacher. In theclass the students gain the knowledge in a passive way. With the development of education,the traditional teacher-centered teaching is not very good for our teaching. We began toadvocate the student-centered teaching.
