摘要:The breakthrough of the study lies in that it is more meaningful to find out the testanxiety neurosis status than the study on test anxiety levels among rural junior middleschool students.

the English teachers so that they can teach in a moreeffective way and also make better evaluations of the students’ performances.


1.3 Layout of the thesis
The thesis consists of five chapters. The detailed information is as follows:Chapter one is the general introduction of the whole thesis. It introduces thebackground of the study, the significance of the study and also the organization of thestudy.Chapter two is an overall literature review of the study. It first presents differentversions of the definition of test anxiety from some well-known scholars and thenexplains the classification of test anxiety. At last, it reviews the previous studies onEnglish test anxiety from home and abroad from four different aspects, includingstudies on the current status of English test anxiety, studies on the source of English testanxiety, studies on the relationship between English test anxiety and the Englishachievements and studies on the strategies on alleviating students’ test anxiety. Chapter three is a detailed description of the methodology of the present study, such as the research questions, the subjects, the instruments, data collection and dataanalysis.Chapter four elaborates the results of the study and discusses the difference ofEnglish test anxiety among three grades, the difference in English test anxiety betweenmale and female students, the difference in English test anxiety between residentstudents and non-resident students, the difference in English test anxiety between theonly child students and other students, the relationship between English test anxiety andEnglish achievements, the source of English test anxiety and the overall pattern ofstudents’ English test anxiety in six different test tasks.Chapter five is the last chapter which concludes the present study. It summarizesthe major findings, gives possible implications, states the existing limitation of thepresent study and then points out directions for further studies.

5 Conclusions


5.1 Major findings
Through the detailed analysis of the collected data, the findings of the presentstudy are as follows:1) Students from Grade 1 have the highest English test anxiety and students fromGrade 3 have the lowest test anxiety while students from Grade 2 in the middle. Theproportion of students with test anxiety neurosis in Grade 1 is much higher than that ofGrade 2 and Grade 3.
