Many linguists and scholars havedone the researches about this linguistic phenomenon from the angles of literature andtranslation. From the perspective of some TV shows or literatures，euphemism also hasbeen studied like “desperate housewives，，"Forrest Gump", ‘‘Dream of the Red Mansion".Few people have done research on “Harry Potter” from the respective of euphemism. Butthis paper will analyze the euphemism into three ways: the lexical, the grammatical andthe rhetorical way.

　　This part will discuss the aim of studying euphemism and the reason why the authorwants to choose euphemism materials from Harry Potter series, and what is the aim ofthis paper wants to get from the study of euphemism in Harry Potter.Harry Potter, as a world-wide famous fiction novel, has made a great success inEnglish- speaking countries. No matter you are an adult or a child，you will be attractedby these books. Why are the books so popular? What role do the euphemisms here play inthe books on the basis of CP and PP? How can the euphemisms in Harry Potter promotethe plot development? These questions will be answered in this paper in the later sections.Here are some common euphemisms in English we know the two reasons why we usein our communications: the first one is that people want to avoid offensiveness in theconversations and the second one is that people tend to avoid taboo.In this paper, many euphemisms can be listed which come from the fiction novelbooks, the purpose of this study is to study the euphemism from three ways—the lexical,the grammatical and the rhetorical. On the basis of these studies of euphemism used inHarry Potter, the characters' personalities can be more vivid and better understood by thereaders. Especially the euphemism used in the conversations among characters，we canfind out some useful euphemism expressions, which not only avoid some awkward orsome embarrassment circumstances, but also strengthen the relationships between people.There is no exception that in Hariy Potter, the author intends to find out not onlyeuphemism can make our meaning better understood and more acceptable, but also thereaders can feel the character's polite words and phrases, which create the glorious imageof Harry and other kind-hearted friends.
