4.1 Results of Perception Analysis
As is shown in Table 4.1, among 120 times of pronunciation of English vowel I'd by 60students in Yuxian, 90.8% of the pronunciation is wrong. For the two types of errors,namely,replaced with (ei) in Yuxian dialect and inappropriate length, the former one is the main causeof errors, which is 86.6% of the total times of pronunciation. It is obvious that subjects inYuxian have serious problems with pronouncing English [i:] following the sound [1]. Onemajor reason for this problem can be attributed to the negative transfer of subjects' habits ofdialect-speaking. In Yuxian dialect, the single final (i) in a syllable beginning with (1) tends tobe pronounced as (ei), for example, li (李)is pronounced as lei (累)in Yuxian dialect.This type of errors in pronouncing English vowel /i:/ can be corrected more easily sincethere is no similarity between English [i:] and Chinese (ei) in the aspect of both manner ofarticulation and place of articulation. If English teachers can point out the error made bystudents in time and demonstrate the appropriate manner and place of articulation, thenegative transfer of habits of Yuxian dialect-speaking on the pronunciation of English vowel/i:/ can be overcome successfully.

Conclusion
The present study intends to investigate influences of Yuxian dialect on the learning ofEnglish pronunciation and to explore causes of these influences by virtue of perceptionanalysis, questionnaire investigation and interview so as to provide some suggestions forlearning and teaching of English pronunciation in Yuxian. It is conducted based on threeresearch questions, which have been listed in both Chapter one and Chapter four.
