, even be opposite. The counter-expectation theory refers to the fact that objective reality deviates from subjective expectation. Due to the close relationship between language and thinking, this counter-expectant phenomenon inevitably exists in the language. Construction grammar has provided a new perspective for us to analyze the special language phenomenon since it is noticed by the domestic scholars from 1990s. Many scholars have studied counter-expectation structures from the angle of construction grammar, and have accomplished remarkable achievements. In modern Chinese, the special expression “MQ-Construction” appears frequently in spoken Chinese, expressing one’s sarcasm or ridicule to others, such as “Mei you Gongzhu de Ming, Que you Gongzhu de Bing” (没有公主的命,却有公主的病), “Meiyou Han Hong de Ming, Queyou Han Hong’s Bing”(没有韩红的命,却得了韩红的病). In the literature review, we will study the counter-expectation theory and the relevant constructions about counter-expectation. We can see “MQ-Construction” is also a counter-expectation construction. By studying it we can observe the overall characteristics of counter-expectation constructions from a macro perspective. Construction Grammar lies on the forefront of cognitive linguistics and puts forward some new ideas and methods for us.
