摘要:本文是一篇英语语言学论文题目,本研究结果表明:1) 中国学者在使用立场状语的总频率上少于西方学者;三类立场状语中,态度类立场状语是中西方学者都最少使用的一类,但中国学者存在过少使用认知类立场状语和过多使用风格类立场状语的情况,并且在立场状语的词汇选择和数量上没有西方学者丰富,表现出过度依赖特定词项的偏好。

本文是一篇英语语言学论文题目,本研究对学术英语写作教学和新手撰写英语学术论文有一定的参考价值。教师在教学过程中应注意引导并培养学生正确地表达自己的立场。同时,学生也可借鉴高水平作者的经验,根据自己的写作目的选择恰当的立场状语。

Chapter One  Introduction

1.1 Research background

In the context of globalization, China and other countries in the world have increasingly close exchanges in politics, economy, culture, and other aspects. Of course, academic exchanges are no exception. As the most important universal language in the world, English plays a very important role in spreading academic knowledge and conducting international academic exchanges. It has become an important tool for international academic exchanges and the exchange of research results by non-native English scholars all over the world.  

On this basis, English used for the purpose of academic communication is called academic English (Yang Huizhong, 2018). Wei Naixing (2016) believes that academic English is an English variant used by scholars for knowledge construction, information exchange, and academic communication in order to promote discipline development. Its language characteristics, communicative purposes, and content are significantly different from those of general English under the category of BICS (basic interpersonal communicative skills). It can be seen that if non-English native scholars want to set foot on the international academic stage and gain recognition from the international academic community, they must master certain academic English writing skills. Otherwise, it will affect the academic exchange, cooperation, and progress among scholars. 

1.2 Research purpose and significance

With the improvement of China’s international status, all sectors of Chinese society hope to enhance the international discourse power. As a member of the academic community, it is incumbent on Chinese scholars to enhance their discourse status in the international academic community. As an important part of expressing opinions and attitudes in academic papers, the proper use of stance adverbials will directly affect the acceptance of other scholars. In academic writing, the correct expression of stance is very important for academic communication and persuading readers. This study adopts the corpus-based approach to compare the usage of stance adverbials in academic papers written by Chinese and western scholars, in order to explore the similarities and differences between Chinese and western scholars, and to help Chinese scholars master the expression and use of stance adverbials for international academic publication.

 As one of the bridges between the author and the reader, stance adverbials are an important means to achieve two-way interaction and convince the reader in academic writing. This study discusses the use of stance adverbials in academic papers of Chinese and western scholars, which has certain theoretical and practical significance. First of all, this study uses Contrastive Interlanguage Analysis to analyze and discuss the use of stance adverbials by Chinese and western scholars, which enriches the research content of stance markers and lays a foundation for further study of stance adverbials. In addition, it is very important for EFL learners to master the use of stance adverbials in academic writing.
