There are several limitations for this paper and thus it calls for further study in the future. The author lacks in rich experience in translating classic Chinese poetry, thus the translation principles and strategies proposed in the paper are mainly based on the translation practices of other translators. If the author had a richer experience in translating classic Chinese poetry, her analysis might be more profound and effective in guiding practice. In all, this paper tries to explore the translation of classic Chinese poetry from a cultural perspective in the hope that it will be of some help to the spread of Chinese culture in the world wide, and to a better fulfillment of the duty of a translator as an ambassador of cultural communication.
