rd party logistics market was $56.4 billion, account for 5.6% of the whole American logistics expenditure. The expenditure of logistics was 85 billion Euros in1999 in European Union, and the third party logistics market was 26 billion Euros approximately 30% of the whole expenditure. Some statistics indicates the proportions of the third party logistics in the whole logistics market are 76% in Europe, 80% in Japan, 58% in America, and these are still growing. 24% European non-third party logistics consumers are considering the employment of the third party logistics services, and along with 33% American consumers; 62% European enterprises that have already accepted the third party logistics services are considering the possible increase of such service, and the same thought with 72% American enterprises (Zhu, K 2000).
2.0 Research Aim and Focus
Research aim: Based on the careful analysis about the nature of the third party logistics and manufacturing, combined with the actual case and related theories to do the research, we are expected to find out the relationship between the third party logistics and manufacturing. The main focus locates on the positive and negative impact when the third party logistics and manufacturing combine to come to use; also the problems when we analyze the study with China actual environment and the
strategy that is expected to take are the important parts.
Research focus: the positive and negative impact of the third party logistics for manufacturing is the main focus, along with the implementation of the third party logistics in manufacturing in China.
3.0 Methodology
In this part, firstly we do the detailed analysis about the advantages and disadvantages of the third party logistics. Based on such analysis, we will do the further research on the implementation of the third party logistics in manufacturing in China. All through the research, case study and combined with related theories are the primary research methods.
The reason why to use case study is that Case study research excels at bringing us to an understanding of a complex issue or object and can extend experience or add strength to what is already known through previous research. Case study emphasizes more on the relationship between the primary data and its limitations in certain cases. What is more important, case study could provide the related researches with more direct data and reliability through its specific research results.
Although the process of case study research or the final data may be jammed with some factors related with persons, which may lead some individuals to take the prejudice on the case study method, in most field of research, case study has already played an important role, the influence of factors related with persons could be reduced in a certain extent or be avoided.
4.0 Literature Review
4.1 The Background and Further Development of the third party logistics
In order to satisfy the consumers, logistics is a logical process just as follows: the effective motivation (from the starting place to the consuming place) of the raw material, the midway stock, the final products, the related information; along with the planning, implementing and controlling of stocks.
