基于认知角度对英语存在句进行研究
本文的研究揭示了存在概念和英语存在句生成与扩展的认知规律，对英语存在句的学习、教授和使用具有一定的参考意义。本文的研究还表明，存在句是表达存在概念的句式，英语存在句是存在概念在英语中的隐喻投射和符号表征，其句子结构映照存在概V的概念结构。
Introduction
0.1 Background and Significance of the Current Study
    The Existential Sentence has been for a long time a hot research topic of all linguistic scholars. An existential sentence expresses the existence of something or somebody in a certain place. It is a common and yet special language phenomenon. A variety of linguistic theories and approaches have been used to study it, but little attention has been paid to the generation and expansion of the existential concept and the existential sentence.  All  these  studies  have  not  given  us  a satisfactory  and comprehensive explanation.
    Confronted with the above problems，this thesis aims to provide a comprehensive and systematic study of the existential concept and the existential sentence in English.
    The study will be both theoretically and practically significant. The theoretical significance includes: 1) Studying the existential concept from the angle of conceptual category can help us probe into the nature of existence  and  understand  the  delimitation  of  the  prototypes  and non-prototypes  of  the  existential  concept  and  existential  sentences categories, the the process and relation between the prototypes and non-prototypes, and mechanism of the extension of the existential concept and existential sentences categories; 2) Studying the expansion laws of the existential concept from the angle of prototypical category can help us not only explore the influence of cognitive laws on conceptualization, but also get a comprehensive explanation of the generation, development and evolution of the English existential sentence; 3) The existential concept is a very important concept, and the study of the existential concept will be another convincing demonstration of the prototype theory.
The practical significance mainly lies in English teaching. The study from the angle of prototype category will help English learners master the existential concept as a whole，and understand the deep relations between all kinds of English existential sentences, thus improving their learning and using efficiency.
