Navigation
The PDF file has a bookmarks panel down the left hand side, allowing you to jump from one chapter to another. Thechapters have lower levels of bookmarks enabling you to jump to all subheadings as well as to tables, charts and maps.You can show and hide the bookmarks panel using the Show/Hide Navigation Pane icon at the top of the screen to theright of the printer icon. The contents page and the main contents at the beginning of each chapter are linked to therelevant section of the publication. Within the chapters there are links to most cross-references. If you are uncertainwhether a particular subject is in the book, you can go to the index at the end of the file. Selected website addresses,which appear throughout the book, are interactive. To access a website simply click on its address.SearchingThe first large binoculars icon on the toolbar at the top of the screen does a simple search on a word in the current
document. To check whether this word reappears click on the binoculars icon again.
Data used to create charts and map 19.4The spreadsheets underlying charts and the above map can be accessed in MS Excel by double-clicking anywhere onthe relevant figure. Click on File > Save As if you wish to process the data on your computer. Displaying a spreadsheet isslow the first time but is faster subsequently.
Screen resolutionAdobe Acrobat works with any screen resolution. For this product 800x600 is acceptable, but 1024x768 works better ifthe monitor and graphics card can handle this. To change the view type to one which best suits your screen, use the View
menu.
