Part One Introduction


1.1 Significance of the Study
大学英语教学大纲词汇水平的学生需要掌握以及目前的英语教学,,其中词汇教学是一个关键点作出了具体要求。但类是不是唯一的方式,为学生掌握词汇。一些研究表明,下课后自学,包括阅读英语材料,听英语节目,或看英文影片,可以达到更好的效果,对词汇的掌握。显而易见的是,作为一种工具,电子词典中起着重要作用学习者的自学新单词的过程中,这个过程不应该被避免。到目前为止,已经取得了巨大的成功在词汇习得研究船上。国内语言学家们也学到了很多从理论上或者实践上。在理论方面,它主要表现在三个心理模型的建立在实证方面因素影响的方式和词汇习得的有效性的研究主要表现在。然而,本文将讨论电子词典与词汇习得从词汇习得的过程中,学习者选择学习策略的角度之间是否存在相关性。本词典在英语学习的过程中,国内的研究主要集中在如何使用一本词典有不同的策略,影响上英语词汇采集,并在这些研究中经常提到的字典纸字典。本文将主要处理使用电子词典在英语词汇习得的策略,并探讨不同的策略使用不同的学习者有不同的词汇水平,这可能有助研究这些差异是否有密切的电子词典相关英语词汇采集使用电子词典。
College English Teaching Syllabus has made a specific request for the vocabulary levelswhich students need to master as well as the current English teaching, among which vocabularyteaching is a key point. But class is not the only way for students to acquire vocabulary. Someresearches show that self-learning after class, including reading English materials, listening toEnglish programs or watching English videos, can achieve a better effect on vocabulary mastery.It is evident that as a tool, E-dictionary plays an important role in the process of learners’self-study for new words, and this process should not be avoided.So far great success has been achieved in vocabulary acquisition research aboard. Domesticlinguists have also learned a lot from it theoretically or empirically. In the theoretical aspects, itis mainly manifested in the establishment of three psychological models; in the empirical aspectsit is mainly manifested in the research of factors which influence the way and the validity of L2vocabulary acquisition. However, this paper will discuss whether there exists correlationbetween E-dictionary and Vocabulary Acquisition from the point of learning strategies whichlearners choose in the process of vocabulary acquisition.The domestic studies on dictionaries in the process of English learning mostly focus on howdifferent strategies of using a dictionary have an impact on the English vocabulary acquisition,and the dictionaries in those researches often refer to paper dictionaries. This paper will mainlydeal with the strategies of using E-dictionary in terms of English vocabulary acquisition andexplore the differences of strategies in using the E-dictionary among different learners withdifferent vocabulary levels, which may in turn help examine whether these differences areclosely related to the English vocabulary acquisition by using E-dictionaries.


1.2 Purpose of the thesis
Dictionaries, paper dictionaries or e-dictionaries, are widely used in the process of acquiringthe English vocabulary. Although most of teachers or researchers speak highly of the paperdictionaries, e-dictionaries are more welcome by those L2 learners, especially by thosenon-English majors. Thus, this paper will focus on how non-English majors use theire-dictionaries, their attitude toward e-dictionaries and the roles which the e-dictionaries play inthe process of English vocabulary acquisition.Theoretically, different L2 learners will adopt different strategies of using dictionaries intheir process of L2 learning, which may result from their different vocabulary levels, differentgenders or different favors. Here, this thesis will focus on the first possible reason, namely,learners’ different vocabulary levels.Therefore, the purpose of this thesis intends to solve the following three questions:
