摘要:本文是一篇英语教学论文题目,本研究以120名初中生为研究对象,旨在研究输入频次对初中生短语动词习得的影响。

Based on the aforementioned purposes,the current research is of greattheoretical and practical significance.It makes an effort to substantiate Ellis's(2002b)claim that input frequency plays an indispensable role in SLA by theoreticallydeepening our understanding of the impacts of input frequency in SLA,particularly inphrasal verb acquisition.Practically speaking,this study aims to investigate theeffects of input frequency in acquiring English phrasal verbs and to determine whichmode of input frequency(verbatim or varied repetition)has a greater impact onphrasal verb acquisition.Hence,the study accords with Ellis'view and enriches theresearch about the effects of input frequency on phrasal verb acquisition.

Chapter Two Literature Review

2.1 Definitions of Key Concepts

This section introduces the definitions of phrasal verbs,input frequency as wellas verbatim repetition and varied repetition.

2.1.1 Phrasal verbs

Phrasal verbs,which are made up of both verbs and particles,are a crucial typeof lexical chunks.Linguists gave many different names to phrasal verbs based onvarious study objectives and methodologies,including'compound verb','two-wordverb','separable verb'etc.(Huang,2011).A phrasal verb is described as'a brieftwo-word(or occasionally three-word)phrase made up of a verb and an adverb(or anadverbial particle)or a preposition'in the Chambers Dictionary of Phrasal Verbs(Kirkpatrick&Davidson,1996:28).Phrasal verbs are referred to as'multi-wordverbs'by Quirk,Sideny,Geoffrey,and Jan(1985:1150)and are described as'wordcombinations consisting a lexical verb and one or two particles.'A phrasal verb,according to Yu(2013),is a phrase that combines a verb with an adverb or prepositionto describe a full meaning.In actuality,the aforementioned definitions are internallyconsistent.In conclusion,the operational definition of a phrasal verb used in thisstudy refers to a phrase that consists of a verb and one particle(preposition or adverb)that functions somewhat like a single verb from a lexical or syntactic perspective.

2.1.2 Input frequency

According to Richards and Platt(2000),in linguistic terms,frequency mainlyrefers to the number of times a language item appears in a segment and languagematerials.But this definition only mentions one aspect of the frequency,that is,thedistribution frequency of language features,and fails to mention individuals'experience with the language.

2.2 Studies on Phrasal Verb Acquisition at Home and Abroad

Many academics and researchers have focused their attention in recent years onstudying how pupils learn and how teachers teach phrasal verbs both domestically andoverseas.Thus,there have been numerous important advances in the study of phrasal verbs.Research on phrasal verbs can be divided into traditional semantics of Englishphrasal verbs acquisition,empirical studies on English phrasal verbs acquisition,andcorpus-based studies on English phrasal verbs acquisition.

2.2.1 Semantic studies on phrasal verb acquisition
