Before the experiment officially began, the college entrance examination scores of the EC and the CC were used to test the students’ overall level. As Table 4.1 indicated, the collected data from pre-test were processed by SPSS with independent sample t-test, and the result showed that the mean of the of the EC and that of the CC was 110.54 and 115.04 respectively, and the standard deviations were 10.574 and 12.102 respectively, indicating that the English level of the two classes selected in the experiment was relatively similar. In addition, the p-value is 0.144>0.05 (t=0.761), indicating that there is no remarkable difference in students’ English level. As a result, those two classes can be used to continue the experiment. Therefore, both the EC and the CC would take pre-test in terms of writing next. The maximum score of the pre-test and post-test is 100 points.
