Dear Students
Please find the following some comments/
guidelines to assist in completing your assignment. Kindly note that these comments/guidelines are for your consideration only and you should refer to the course introductory book (p. 20) for detailed instructions and requirements.
In this assignment, students are to present their findings and recommendations (in an
essay format) that will be used to brief and prepare the international management team that will open and employ staff in the new offices in the selected countries. Students are required to select TWO COUNTRIES from the options below (they must be a different country to where you live or home country if an international student).
Option 1: Australia and Singapore
Option 2: Thailand and the Philippines
Option 3: China and Indonesia
Option 4: Malaysia and Vietnam
Option 5: New Zealand and Japan
Introduction (approximately 100 words)
In this section, students should provide a brief introduction and briefly outline the following:
· Clearly identify the two selected countries.
· What you plan to do, how you plan to do it.
· Why the topics are relevant.
Task 1 (approximately 700 words)
This section requires students to prepare the Appendix table (Economic growth and labour market issues) to provide some background information of the selected countries on economic, socio-political background and structures, legal frameworks, and employment relations structures. Tasks to be completed include:
· Complete the Appendix table.
· Provide a written comparison on economic, socio-political background and structures, legal frameworks, and employment relations structures of your two selected countries.
Perhaps you may wish to consider the following structure/approach to this section.
Step 1: Complete the Appendix table.
Step 2: Discuss the economic of Country A and then Country B. Then make the comparison between the two countries.
Step 3: Discuss the socio-political background and structures of Country A and then Country B. Then make the comparison between the two countries.
Step 4: Discuss the legal frameworks of Country A and then Country B. Then make the comparison between the two countries.
Step 5: Discuss the employment relations structures of Country A and then Country B. Then make the comparison between the two countries.
Task 2 (approximately 1500 words)
For this section, students are required to identify the main issues (using relevant theory from modules 1 and 2) that your company will need to be aware of and then make recommendations about how your company should manage those issues when it opens new offices in your two selected countries. Main issues may include the following but are not limited to:
· Culture issues
· Legislation and political issues
·
Leadership
· Workforce diversity
· Communication
Tasks to be completed include:
· Identify the main issues (at least 1 issue each for the two countries that you have selected. In considering the word limit, DO NOT identify more than 2 issues for each of your selected country, so that you can focus on providing depth discussion on the issues. The issue/s have to be specific to your selected country as they may differ from one country to another.
· Provide recommendations (eg how the issues can be overcome, what steps need to be undertaken, objectives/aims of each step, who should be responsible (eg HR manager), possible outcomes, implications to th
