LPI Capital Bhd (LPI) incorporates as an investment holding company, which previously known as London & Pacific Insurance Company Berhad. After a rationalization scheme, LPI transformed its whole insurance business to its wholly-owned subsidiary Lonpac Insurance Bhd on 1 May 1999. The Company was built-in on 24 May 1962 as a private limited company and was registered as an approved insurer on 9 April 1963 under the Malaysian Insurance Act, 1963. Lonpac Insurance Bhd (Lonpac), a wholly owned subsidiary of LPI Capital Bhd, was started in Malaysia on 12 July 1994. Currently, the paid-up capital of the company is RM200,000,000 including of 200,000,000 ordinary shares of RM1.00 each. It initiated underwriting of general insurance business after a rationalization scheme on 1 May 1999. The Company operates through 21 branches in Malaysia. In September 2005, Lonpac has reconfirmed its financial strength and reliability in the insurance industry as the Malaysian Rating Corporation Berhad (MARC) has reaffirmed its general insurance strength rating at 'AA'. The A.M. Best Co. has also affirmed the financial stability rating of A- (Excellent) and issuer credit rating (ICR) of 'a-' to Lonpac in September 2011. Despite of the aggressive and competitive operating surroundings in its core markets, the ratings have proven Lonpac's ability to expand market share while sustaining an encouraging underwriting performance.
