What determines the levels of a country's export and import?

Here the framing of macro economy is just nothing more than the answering of the above questions. In this process we shall be considering the theory of employment, the theory of price level and the theory of economic growth. We have to examine aggregates such as output, employment, consumption, investment, the supply of money, the general price level, exports and imports. Further we should have to consider the policy instruments for this purpose.

2.5   Projecting financial resources

The technique of framing is to project what the national income will be, sector wise at the end of the plan period: this is compared with national income at the beginning and, in the more elaborate models, with national income in each intervening year. These projections are used to compare demanded, supply in as many markets as possible; and movements by required investment with likely savings; imports and exports and so on.

There are many constraints when projecting financial resources.

Planners should have to select the most appropriate growth rate, which seems a practicable for the period, for which planning is undertaken. The feasibility of this figure must then be tested as follows.

Each industry has to be examined separately to see whether it can grow at a rate corresponding to the proposed overall rate.

Does the sum of the parts add to what is a projected for the whole?

Can the required interrelationships between industries be sustained?

Will there be enough savings to finance the postulated rate of growth?

Can exports and foreign aid keep pace with the demand which growing income will make on imports?

Will the necessary skilled manpower be available?

The main purpose of the macro framework is to show up and check the implications of the proposed rate of growth.
