4.0 Porter Diamond Model波特钻石模型
Porter Diamond is a model proposed by Michael Porter (1985), helping to analyse and improve the role of nations or organizations in the competitive global market. The model involves four determinants of national advantage: factor conditions, demand conditions, related and supporting industries and firm strategy, structure, and rivalry. The Porter’s diamond model can be used to analyze whether domestic market conditions and factors are supportive to a firm’s internationalization and useful in creating competitive advantages on a global scale.
Firstly, China has created its own factor conditions for Asiacom to internationalize its products. Factor conditions are those advantageous factors which can be found and taken advantage of by firms to strengthen their competitiveness in a given country (Skare, 1993). In recent years, China has developed skilled workforce resources and technological base, especially its technological innovative capabilities in system integration. Asiacom can readily employ skilled technical persons to strengthen its research ability. Asiacom can take advantage of these resources and new innovations to improve its technologies on system integration.
Secondly, there is an increasing expanding demand market for system integration in China. With the fast development of information industry in China, a lot of industries and organizations have increasingly carried out informatization to increase efficient management and control. Asiacom has grasped the opportunity to provide system integration to improve their information management. Moreover, traffic jam has become a global concern. It may be effectively handled by collection and analysis of information through use of system integration. The expanding local market has given China the national advantage.
Thirdly, if local firms have competitive supporting industries and suppliers, their competitiveness will be potentially increased by getting parts and products more effecient in costs and innovative in technologies (Huggins & Izushi, 2011). In the past decade, a lot of companies have competed in providing raw materials, and parts for LED, LCD, self-service, and queuing machine products. As a result, Asiacom has chosen a list of competent and competitive suppliers who have provided high quality parts and products at lower price.
Fourthly, firms’ competitiveness can be affected by the strategy, structure and management systems in different nations. Asiacom’s strategy and structure are in favor of its competitiveness. Its organization structure is a flat one which is helpful in creating creative and innovative working environment. Furthermore, there are a high degree of rivalry in the industry. A lot of local firms such as Shanghai KOTAK Computer System Integration company and Shanghai Suokang System Integration company have stepped into the field of system integration. There has been no a company dominating the market. In the fiercer market, Asiacom has developed some core technologies to obtain competitive advantages.
