POST GRADUATE dissertation REGULATIONS

1. Status of Regulations

留学生论文网1.1  This document sets out the Dissertation Regulations for the School of the Built Environment in respect of its taught Masters degree programmes.

1.2  Students registered on these programmes who are required to submit a dissertation in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the award of an MSc should comply with these Regulations.

1.3  Interpretation of these Regulations shall be at the sole discretion of the Board of Examiners whose decision on any question of interpretation shall be final.

1.4  At the discretion of the Board of Examiners penalties may be imposed for breach of any of the Regulations in addition to the penalties specifically provided for herein, and in addition to penalties described in the University Regulations.

2. Research Topic and Supervision

2.1  Students should select a research topic and register this with their Programme Leader by the date notified to them. The chosen research topic shall be relevant to the award being made.

2.2  Students are required to maintain regular contact with their dissertation supervisor between the start of the module and the dissertation submission deadline notified to them.

2.3 Dissertations shall take the form of an academic thesis, which addresses the research project undertaken by the student in accordance with a structure approved by the dissertation supervisor.

2.4  Dissertations must consist entirely of the student’s own original work and may not rely on the work of others to any significant extent. Any other sources of material other than the student’s own should be correctly referenced. Breach of this requirement (plagiarism) will result in the automatic disqualification of the student from the dissertation module and may result in the refusal of the University to award a degree.
