摘要:According to Bacon,"Reading makes a full man, conversation a ready man, and writing an exactman (1625)." It is observed by Raimes that Writing is the communication between writers andreaders .For language learners, writing is very important for measuring their linguistic competence. Itrequires a comprehensive knowledge of English: grammar, vocabulary, and a hard process of Englishthinking mode (Raimes,1983). English writing ability is one of the goals of EnglishSyllabus .However, writing performance of higher vocational college students, especially 3+2vocational and technical college students, is far from satisfactory. The reason is that our studentsprefer to spend more time acquiring the input of knowledge rather than pay attention to the output oflanguage. As a result, for students, after consuming so much time in writing, they may feel frustratedwith little progress, so they perform poorly in writing and writing tests. One of the most importantreasons is that errors made in their English writing hinder their improvement of writing ability(Raimes, 1983). Therefore, based on the theories of Error Analysis and Contrastive Analysis and byusing the results of error studies on the learners at abroad and home, the author studies, classifies theerrors committed by the 3+2 English majors of Foreign Language Normal College of TaiyuanUniversity to find out the characteristics and types of errors in the students’ writing .After that, someefforts are made to find the causes of errors. The author aims to find out a comprehensive andeffective way of teaching English and give some guidance for the students in their writing. And it ishoped that it can provide some help for English teachers dealing with all errors committed by lowergrade students in a 3+2 vocational and technical college.

 Chapter V Implications and Limitations of the Study

 

5.1 Pedagogical implications
In the previous chapter, the author study the errors easily committed by the students, the sources ofthe errors and proved the effectiveness of integrated correction method. Therefore, the writer has somepedagogical suggestion in order to help students to improve their English write competence. According to Krashen’s InputHypothesis, the acquisition of language only happened when people receive comprehensible input (CI).Comprehensible input means this kind of language input that can be comprehended by the listenersthough they do not understand all the words or structures in the sentences. So it is regarded as a levelabove that of the learners. According to Krashen’s another theory, language acquisition, we should givelearners i+1 input to help them study language naturally, rather than learn it consciously and difficultly.On the other hand, language output can become a natural process because of enough language input.Therefore, it is important for students to ensure enough knowledge input of English writing.Firstly, students need to learn some words, phrases and sentence structures used the mostfrequently in English writing. Reciting different types of English writings model is a good way forstudents to learning the recurring vocabularies, phrases and sentence structures.Secondly, students need know some English basic grammars because this is very important andnecessary for English writing. A good writing is certainly can not be achieved only by grammarknowledge. But without knowing basic grammar, it will be very difficult or even impossible for thewriter to express his opinion clear and logical because he was unable to write reasonably simplesentences and complex sentence structures.In this present research the results indicate that the students need urgently to improve their BasicEnglish competence. Instruction should focus on the basic knowledge especially on frequently usedsentences structure, verb forms and tenses. At the same time, there is an idea should make the studentsknow which is that the prime target for English writing practice is not to make error-free sentence but tomake better express their meaning.

 

5.2 Limitations of the research
Even though the thesis has found the answers to the three questions, this research still has threelimitations as follows:At first, the number of samples collected for the research is limited because of the limitation oftime and some difficulties of analyzing errors. And in the present research these samples were chose at aspecific time.
