摘要:As what is discussed in the background part, the researcher slightly modifies theexercise and makes it a text-reconstruction one in which the clause relation theory serves asthe theoretical guidance to analyze how the model texts achieve the connection andcoherence between sentences while reconstruction works as the practical approach to trainstudents to build up coherent text by themselves.

/> Targeting at exploring out an effective way to improve college student writers' EFLwriting proficiency, the researcher tested the effectiveness of the special kind of exercise:clause-relation-based text-reconstruction. The current study examined whether and how thecurrent exercise exerted effect on the EFL writing proficiency of non-English major studentwriters. It has found that the current exercise has the potential in improving the collegenon-English majors' EFL writing proficiency and raising their awareness of creatingcoherence in their writing process. Below is the recap of the major findings for the currentstudy.The current study has suggested that the kind of text-reconstruction task is an effectiveand practical way for students' writing training. In the current study, after taking thereconstruction exercises over the ten-week-long experiment, subjects in EG havesignificantly improved their writing capacity which was measured by holistic scoring. Incontrast to EG, students in CG, who did not take the current type of exercise,have not gotsuch obvious improvement in their writing achievement. Besides the holistic score of thetests, the data from questionnaire and subjects' self-reports also support the conclusions thatafter the treatment students become more capable in ferreting out the major problems in theirown writing and are willing to spare efforts to correct them. Conclusion


On account of the above-mentioned limitations, the findings of the current study canonly be viewed as tentative. However, partly because it is the tendency to involve certainwriting teaching theory to practical writing training practice and partly because little to noresearch has specifically examined the effect of such combinations in real writing teachingcondition, the findings of the present study are noteworthy. And therefore, some difficultissues about forming the workable writing training forms still need to be further tackled.Researches that aim to value the effect of specialized category of theory-based writingtraining tasks can take into consideration of the following suggestions. when carrying out such kinds of theory-based writing training tasks, the samplesshould be taken in a larger size, and if possible, the samples even can be taken from differentschools, because collection crossing more schools and from varied backgrounds ispreferable for making the study more representative. What is more, the time span for theexperiment can be expanded to a longer one and the time-lapse test should also be concludedin to guarantee the workability and reliability of the study.
