本文是一篇英语教学法论文,本研究结果表明:首先,高中生批判性思维倾向处于中等水平,其中,思想开放与自信程度分别处于最高水平与最低水平;高中生元认知策略使用处于低水平,其中,自我计划的使用频率最高,自我监控的使用频率最低;高中生读后续写水平整体处于中等水平。
Chapter Ⅰ Introduction
1.1 Research Background
General Senior High School Curriculum Standards (2017 edition revised in 2020) puts forward its basic concept of developing the core literacy of English subjects, and the implementation of the fundamental task of morality education. The ordinary high school English course has an important educational function, aiming to develop students’ language ability, cultural awareness, thinking quality and learning ability and other core qualities of English subjects, and implement the fundamental task of morality education. The core literacy of the discipline is the concentrated embodiment of the value of the discipline education, and is the correct values, essential character and key abilities that students gradually form through the study of the discipline. The core literacy of English disciplines mainly includes language ability, cultural awareness, thinking quality and learning ability. Thinking quality refers to the ability and level of thinking in terms of logic, criticism, innovation and so on. The thinking quality reflects the mental characteristics of the core literacy of the English discipline. The development of thinking qualities helps to improve students’ analytical and problem-solving skills, enabling them to observe and understand the world from a cross-cultural perspective and make correct value judgments about things.
General Senior High School Curriculum Standards (2017 edition revised in 2020) also suggests that developing students’ ability to use learning strategies is the main way to improve students’ learning ability, an important part of teaching, and an important part of the core literacy of English subjects. Teachers should pay attention to the cultivation of students’ learning strategies in teaching, consciously guide students to learn and attempt to use a variety of different learning strategies, and gradually form a learning method suitable for themselves.
1.2 Research Purpose
The aims of this study are tantamount to investigate high school students’ general level of critical thinking disposition and the correlation among the students’ critical thinking disposition, meta-cognitive strategies and their English the continuation writing achievement through inventories. What’s more, this study focuses on the characteristics of students’ continuation writing achievement in order to discover the factors influencing students’ critical thinking ability in writing. Thus, some practical and useful instructions and suggestions are proposed to cultivate students’ critical thinking disposition in high school English writing courses, which are more likely to provide a theoretical basis and some help for senior high school continuation writing.
