　　　In the past 10 years, in the world’s top ten immigrant places to Canada, Taiwan and Hong Kong in China ranked top two places with the number of ten thousand people immigrating to Canada each year. However, according to data from Canada’s official statistics, it shows that the number of Chinese mainland immigrants to Canada has come from behind in the past years. Immigration has been an important factor in the establishment of Canada as a nation. Canadian population consists of first-generation immigrants (19.8%), aboriginal peoples (3.8%), and native-born Canadians who are decedents of immigrants (76.4% p) (Statistics Canada, January 15, 2008.).
