tions that are not to be regarded as disabilities, including homosexuality, bisexuality, voyeurism, compulsive gambling, pyromania, and certain disorders resulting from the current illegal use of drugs. The following is an overview of the five titles included in the American Disability Act.

Title I - Employment

Title I prohibits employers, including city and state government, from discriminating against qualified job applicants and workers who are or who become disabled. The ADA includes all areas of employment including the application process, hiring, development, pay, promotion, and any other employment term, condition, or privilege.

Title II - Public Service and Transportation

Title II has two sections. The first covers public agencies of local and state government. It describes the rules that cover access to all programs and activities offered by the job. This title also includes physical access and entrance and access that might be blocked by discriminatory policies or procedures of the business. The other section of Title II is specific to public transportation provided by public companies.

Title III - Public Accommodations

Title III prohibits private businesses that provide public accommodations and services, such as hotel or restaurants, from denying goods, services and programs to people based on their disabilities. Title III also discusses the applicable building accessibility and requirements for private companies.

Title IV - Telecommunications

Title IV makes telecommunication devices and services available for the hearing and speech impaired.

Title V

Title V makes mention of miscellaneous provisions. This also includes the construction and application of the American Disabilities Act, including alternative dispute resolution.

1964年的民权法案-The Civil Rights Act of 1964

The next key Equal Employment Opportunity legislation that will be discussed is the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This Civil Rights Act was born in the presidency of John F. Kennedy. Upon Kennedy's assassination, President Lyndon B. Johnson continued with Kennedy's plan and also felt there was a need to pass a strong civil rights act that would end racial discrimination in the workforce, schools, and other areas of life. To date, this is considered one of the strongest civil rights laws in history. The Civil Rights Act was an attempt to improve the quality of life for African American and other minority groups.
