摘要:Future study can be done from the following several aspects: a. the experiment needs to bereplicated with a larger sample size containing subjects from more schools of variouseducational levels; b. the existing textbooks can not satisfy the requirement of process-genreapproach and more comprehensive teaching materials are needed; c. the application ofprocess-genre approach is limited by teaching hours, so in the long run, the influence onstudents’ achievements resulted from the training could be more obvious.; d. how to deal withthe relationship between students’ activity and teacher’s lecturing. Further study is needed tofocus on what proportion of each part is suitable.

five chapters.Chapter one is introduction. It includes background and significance of the study, andoverall structure of the thesis.Chapter two is literature review. In this chapter, the author discusses the theoretical basisand the present research achievements of process-genre approach. In addition, the authorintroduces the application of process-genre approach to writing teaching which consists of fivesteps: 1. Analysis of model texts; 2. Imitating writing; 3. Independent writing; 4. Revising andgetting feedback; 5. Editing and ProofreadingChapter three deals with the survey of the application of process-genre approach tocollege writing instruction on the basis of theoretical framework through writing proficiencytests, questionnaire, class observation and individual interview.Chapter four is the analysis and discussion of the research results. This chapter deals withthe major findings of the research through quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis. Theresults reveal that students’ writing ability is greatly improved.Chapter five is conclusion. It sums up the whole thesis, provides the limitations of theresearch and explores pedagogical implications of process-genre approach in EFL vocationalcollege writing instruction and puts forward some suggestions on the further research.

5.1 Major Findings
Process-genre approach is better than traditional teaching approach in improvingstudents’ writing proficiency.The hypothesis 1 of the experiment is that the process-genre approach is effective inimproving the vocational college students’ writing proficiency. After a semester’s training, apositive answer to the hypothesis was obtained by analyzing the scores of the pre-test andpost-test writing and questionnaires.The pre-test which targets to test the students’ prior writing level of the two classes iscarried out before the teaching experiment.
