摘要:More and more people have recognized that motivation plays an important role in foreignlanguage learning. Motivation, as a non-intellectual factor, is increasingly attracting the attention ofscholars and classroom teachers. The focus of foreign language teaching has been transferred fromteachers’ teaching to students’ learning.
6.2 Limitation of the study
As we all know, motivation study is a complicated process. Many scholars have done a lot ofresearches on it. This thesis is just a study based on the motivation theory. Although the analysisresults provide some implications for English teaching, there are some limitations:First, the study is carried out in a small scale (Fenyang College of Shanxi Medical University).Students from different medical colleges may have different motivation changes and motivationdifferences, so some implications for English teaching are not popular in all medical colleges.Second, the questionnaire only contains two kinds of motivation types: intrinsic motivation andextrinsic motivation. The author based the research on intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivationrather than the other classifications. To some extent, the questionnaire is a little one-sided.6.3 SuggestionThe future survey of the motivation in foreign language learning could choose large and variedsamples to do the research. Then more data can be got, and it could make the data results moreaccurate.The study is only an exploration for English learning motivation. As Gardner (1985) claims,“one study, no matter how carefully conducted, can’t be taken as conclusive. It is only with repeatedinvestigation that the complexities of an area can be truly appreciated and comprehended.” So theresearcher hopes that more surveys can be conducted from different perspectives in the future.
