en are situating in the opposition. Consequently, people think that men will lose their masculinity if they ‘act like women’ or ‘have female’s idenity’.According to Tim Edwards (2006), a crisis of masculinity means men are failed to achieve the expectations or role images, which are demanded in the society and the failures will make them feel panicky and anxious andthis shows the impressions and identity of men and women are totally different (Terman & Miles 1936).Under the influence of the Binary Opposition between men and women, interviewees analyze questions from single level perspective and the female interviewees also act like McBobbie (1994) said; they put ‘men’ to a Imitative model and use men’s stand points to think about the questions. The interview result is combined some concept of feminism and post-feminism, so the result is contradictive and conflict.
Conclusion 总结
Too much emphasis on the difference of gender will affect the result of study. In this research, most of the interviewees want to show their critical thinking and opened mind. They try to agree the positive things of beauty contest for young men. However, the Binary Opposition between men and women affects them all. In the process of the interview, the interviewees try to explain the differences between the beauty contest for men and women, also the different effect between the beauty contest for men and women. Finally, they turn toappreciate the beauty contest for women and think that the beauty contest for men is strange and harmful to masculinity. The contradiction and conflict about some concept of feminism and post-modernism is embodied in this research study.
