There is evidence that cerebrallateralization starts earlier in childhood (or even at birth).The structure of human brain is advanced and complex. In 1863, Broca, in German,finds that there is an area of the back of the left hemisphere of the brain, when this area isdestroyed, people will lose language ability. This is the famous “Broca’s area”. In 1874German Wernicke finds that if the brain's right hemisphere suffers damage, the person cannot understand the words and can not write, this area is called “Wernicke’s area”. Thecurrent research shows that, the left hemisphere is to promote language function, and theright hemisphere is competent to understand language. Because of the development ofmodern medicine, the study of human brain will also have further development, as well asthe Critical Period Hypothesis research.

Conclusion


There are still shortcomings in my thesis. For example, in research survey, the samplesare small which basically is concentrated in Xihua university, and can not cover in otherareas of the China, such as East and North of China, southeast and other regions, especiallyin the coastal area, such as Shanghai, its education is developed. Obviously, the educationof developed cities is higher than inland. The results of this survey can be aimed at part offoreign language learners, for extensive areas of China have to let us think that the Chinesestudents have regional critical period. Furthermore, nowadays it needs to combine differentindividual development to determine its critical period of English learning, such as personalmotivation, cognitive level, learning habits, etc. Foreign language learning is not onlycontact with the age factor, but also with other factors.
