摘要:Specifically speaking, task-based language teaching approach offers the opportunityfor natural learning inside the classroom. It is intrinsically motivating. It can be usedalongside with traditional approach. All in all, this approach is student-oriented, which canpromote language acquisition through accomplishing tasks.
Chapter One Introduction
1.1 Background of this research
Since China held Olympic Games in 2008, in order to give warm welcome to Englishspeakers from the whole world, Chinese arouse interests and passion towards learningSpoken English. Yet in a broad sense, English learning in China is still for test purposeonly. This is crystal clear especially in schools. On one hand, teachers are dedicated totrying out all means to improve students' abilities, yet they are so crushed by little effect.On the other hand,students are exerting all their strength to remember words, phrases andto practice as much as possible,yet their interests in learning English are destroyed byheartbreaking low grades. Practically speaking, right now the problem of students' lowEnglish grades is simply because students are less interested in participating in class andthus teachers are too discouraged.It is believed that teachers are lack of suitable teaching techniques and students are lackof learning abilities,from a long run this will lead to more and more serious problems. Asfar as students in countryside are concerned, the situation is a lot worse. Because thestudents begin to leam English pretty late, who do not attach great importance to Englishlearning and do not grasp proper ways to leam English. Students do not have good habit ofreading, let alone maintain the suitable ways to do reading comprehension. Most of thestudents start learning English from primary school, who have the basic knowledge ofEnglish but lack of proper way of learning it, who also have difficulties in understandingthe text on their own and lack of interest in reading material. Besides, from teachers'aspect, they mainly focus on basic knowledge such as grammar and new words,teachersspend little time in guiding students how to do reading comprehension. There is no doubtthat students cannot get ideal English scores. Therefore, it is urgent to find a proper methodwhich can not only intrigue students to participate in class and feel interested in whatteachers teach, but also can help teachers facilitate the reading comprehension materials.Many research evidences show that large meaningful input can ensure proper grasp of alanguage. In terms of learning a second language, listening and reading are decisive factors.Listening is easily affected and limited by exterior environment, yet reading is practicaland more dependable.

1.2 Significance of this research
From theoretical point of view, hopefully this
thesis can be guidance and theinstruction in my own teaching. Along with the implementation of TBLT in my teaching,firstly, I begin to realize the role I am playing in class, I am no longer the controller, nolonger the center of classroom, I am now more like the organizer, promoter, assistant andafter all the listener. The application of TBLT can make students participate in class moreand be the master of the classroom.Practically speaking, with the help of TBLT,the teamwork is reinforced whenstudents are assigned to accomplish the task. Students are required to focus on result andprocess. It can improve interaction between teachers and students and interaction amongstudents. It can also intrigue students to think in order to accomplish a task; students are nolonger the passive intake but active participator.
