4.1 The Difference between Paralanguage Study and Language Study
It’s definitely certain that paralanguage study is not as an important member as others inthe family of translation studies. The reasons can be inferred from at least two aspects. On theone hand, the essence of translation belongs to “phenomenology”. All the contents and formsof information need to be presented via language signals, which is helpful to verify the staticdifferences between the source language and the target one, and furthermore, to verify whatsort of translation strategies translators have adopted in their versions, which can actually beseen a basis for exploring the dynamic translation process and the occurrence of changes ofstrategies during the translation procession. However, the situation is different in the field of paralanguage, which can be presentedby non-verbal form. Therefore, its implicit features are greater than its explicit features.Namely, delivering information by words or bigger units is limited from the perspective ofexplicit features, and more information is hidden between the lines or the other non-languageforms. Hence, paralanguage really exists and has a direct impact on translation process andresults. Despite the arguments, the author of this thesis still insists on the significance ofstudying paralanguage. Yet, this sort of research is different from the previous translationresearch. Specifically speaking, it can be analyzed from two aspects: the studies on shift oftranslation strategies of paralanguage and the studies of translation on paralanguage which isan assistant one. The former means paralanguage in translated versions is visible, while thelatter means paralanguage needs to show its assistant functions of selecting meanings by thevisible language form.

Conclusion
As mentioned in the previous chapters, many researchers all over the world have spentmuch time on paralanguage. I’d like to be one of them and try my best to make somecontributions to this field. It’s sincerely hoped that this study is helpful to translation study. All the researchers illustrate that paralanguage, as important as language, is the key form ofcommunication among human beings. What’s more, I insist that it be one part of the wholetranslation studies, especially in literary translation studies. From the analysis of literaryworks, we can find that in order to create the characters with their personalities, mentality, emot
