ct  analysis, transformation  or  synthesis  of  learning  materials.  Cognitive  strategies  include  six kinds  of  individual  strategies:  clarification/verification,  monitoring,  memorization, guessing/inductive  inferencing,  deductive  reasoning  and  practice.  Metacognitive strategies are used to control, adjust or self-regulate in language learning process. One of  the  six  individual  strategies,  monitoring,  is  included  in  metacognitive  strategies again,  which  results  in  overlapping  of  strategies  as  it  has  been  grouped  into  the category  of  cognitive  strategies.  Communication  strategies  which  are  less  directly related to language learning are used by learners to keep the conversation when they have  some  difficulty  in  expressing  their  own  meaning  or  confront  with  the misunderstanding  of  another  speaker  (Rubin,  1987),  such  as  the  use  of   synonyms, simple sentences, gestures, semantic contiguity, conversational formulas or avoidance strategies.

CHAPTER IV RESULTS AND DISCUSSION 

This  chapter  will  present  the  results  of  the  collected  data  after  analyzing  them by SPSS 18.0 and the corresponding discussions of the three research questions of this study. The results of the data will be described in detail in the results part to deal with the three questions. Then the reasons resulting in these results and the comparison of the  findings  of  this  study  and  previous  studies  will  be  further  provided  in  the discussion part.
