Despite such deficiency as lack of definite criteria for classification and uniform terminology, the theory put forward by J.R.  Martin  and  P.  White  has  still  been  widely  acknowledged  in  the  academia  on account of its novelty and feasibility to linguistically explicate interpersonal meaning in detail.The  present  paper  aims  to  verify  this  feasibility  again  in  the  genre  of  narrative with  regard  to  the  subject  being  a  young  female  scholar  in  South  China. Aforementioned,  to  begin  with,  the  mass  at  home  and  abroad  has  seldom  paid attention to this group, even ironically dramatize the female Ph D holders as the third gender in media now and then, even if these outstanding women have been obscurely making great contributions in almost all walks of life for the nearly two hundred years.  Suffice  it  to  say  that,  especially  female  scholars  deserve  to  be  treated  fairly, recognized  and  depicted  as  an  authentic,  vibrant,  and  a  body  of  flesh  and  blood whereas  deeming  researchers  as  merely  a  profession  of  a  kind,  just  like  a  myriad  of other occupations in the reality. Moreover, among the few and far between literatures, articles  concerning  female  scholars  have  been  practically  investigated  within  the following  disciplines  without  exception,  psychology,  pedagogy,  and  sociology. Therefore, there exists some room for approaching this target group from the angle of linguistics, appraisal theory in the present scenario.

2.1 Previous study on (young) female scholars  
After  a  preliminary  browse  on  the  Internet  in  accordance  with  the  KWIC---  female researchers  in  China,  a  majority  of  these  news  reports  virtually  pertain  to  a  few outstanding  female  scholars  who  have  received  international  prestigious  awards  in their  respective  fields.  Therefore,  news  reports  as  to  depicting  them  as  a  normal person, a profession of a kind, a researcher and a mother have rarely been seen in the public discourse.
