(运用介词替代状语从句)非简洁: Miniaturization of electronic deviceswould be impossible if ISI had not been invented.较简洁: But for the invention of ISI, miniatur-ization of electronic devices would be impossible. (运用介词词组替代条件状语从句)　　

八、不善于运用省略不善于运用省略,往往使英语句子不够简洁;而善于运用各种省略,则有助于使表达简洁一些:非简洁: With lubrication the friction is reducedand the life of the machine is prolonged.较简洁: With lubrication the friction is reducedand the life of the machine prolonged. (省略了系动词)非简洁: Heat energy can be converted into me-chanical energy, and in return, mechanical energy canbe converted into electrical energy.较简洁: Heat energy can be converted into me-chanical energy, and in return, mechanical energy intoelectrical energy.
