2.1 Process-writing approach
This part mainly focuses on process-writing approach, which includes the definition of process-writing approach, theoretical foundation for the process-writing approach and stages in the process-writing approach. The process-writing approach puts the focus of writing teaching in the writing process and pays attention to the study of training language skills, and the writing process is regarded as a cognitive process, thinking process and social communication. In the process of writing, learner is the centered character, at the same time, teachers play the role of guidance and monitor to improve learners’ writing ability through the teacher-student interaction and students’ cooperation. The essence of the process approach is to make the language teaching reality and the classroom socialization, and make writing as a process. The characteristics of the process-writing approach are showed from the five aspects: first, students are regarded as the center of the writing process, and teachers are regarded as the instructor, supervisor and participant. In the traditional English writing teaching, teachers are in the center position throughout the writing process. Teacher sets the topic to let students write and finally gives the evaluation and scores, so students are always in a passive position of writing. But in the process-writing approach, teachers play more roles and undertake more tasks. Teachers should provide feedback timely to students in the process of writing, guide students to revise their writings and supervise students’ writing activities. Besides, teachers need to participate in discussion and cooperation and joint efforts to find and solve the problem with students. And finally the teacher gives objective remarks and helps students correct mistakes.
