erns on thesyntactical organization in English writing of Chinese Senior High students as well as offerhelp for Senior high students as much as possible. Based on the theory of ContrastiveAnalysis, both quantitative and qualitative errors are explored in order to find out whatsyntactical errors are committed in their writing experience. Its purpose is to testify whetherthe hypothesis made in Chapter four that the attributive clause has some positive effect onsyntactical structure is true. The author can draw a conclusion that having a good awarenessof contrastive analysis between the Chinese and the Westerners is of great use for syntacticalwriting in Senior High students.However, study is rarely perfect and this one is not all exception. Here are some problemsof this research and areas which need to be improved.
1. The participantsThe research is carried out in only two classes, with the students possessing acomparatively low English proficiency. Besides our school is an ordinary one. So theimplication may not be universal for all the senior students in the whole country. Thenthe students from different background and learning environment are needed in the futurestudy. In some way that decreases the reliability of this research.
2. The dataAll the data are collected through writing work completed in a guided time. Although toldto complete the work by themselves, the students are not likely to do it individually. It mustbe one hundred percent made sure that the task will be performed by themselves.
3. The duration of the experimentOwing to some other factors, it only takes only one term to do this experiment. While it isproved that the hypothesis made in Chapter four is effective in this period, the author is not sure whether it is more efficient in other time of future study.
4. The writing taskThe participants are required to compose one passage within the limited time in thisresearch. However, the students’ writing couldn’t be fully shown in just one composition inthis short time. Furtherly , different styles of compositions may result in different syntacticalexpressions as a result of thought pattern. So more various genres of writing are demanded ina more respective study.As an English teacher, the author is anxious about the writing errors of the students inusing English, especially some Chinglish similar ones which are committed repeatedly. Thatis because we are concerned about the specific problems but do not require the students to beaware of the differences of TPs between the Chinese and the Westerners. Sometimes it isunrealistic to advise them to think in English without giving some necessary instructions. It isurgent for the teachers to teach the relevant knowledge of the differences of TPs between theChinese and the Westerners to enable students to try to reduce such errors .As of today’s highschool students, their English writing has been improved a lot so that they are capable of theknowledge on differences of the two TPs.
