Overview of the Project
What is the project all about? Give a little background to the problem which you are addressing, why you have chosen this project, any collaborators (eg company, project sponsors etc).
Objectives for the Project
This is very important. You must CLEARLY and SPECIFICALLY state what the project objectives are, perhaps using bullet points for emphasis. Your success mark will be judged against these. Here is an example of a set of objectives:

Constraints
If there are any constraints imposed on the project you must identify them. These are normally constrained imposed by the sponsor, such as the target hardware or the operating system. Time and lack of knowledge are not constrains, nor is the availability of key personnel! You have to plan to work round these issues.
Legal, Ethical and Professional Issues – List any legal, ethical and professional issues raised in the project. These might be:
Legal – Personal data is to be stored on the system, therefore the sponsor must be advised that registration with the Data Controller will be necessary
Ethical – Are there any human subjects to be used in experiments eg school students subject to evaluation of a CAL programme
Professional – There is a need to make clear to the sponsor the extent of your expertise (or lack of it!)
Resources
Clearly identify what resources you will need for the project, and their source. For example, you might required a particular software package, or type of operating system, or hardware, or people. State what they are, and how they will be used, eg:
Borland C++ will be used for the development of the core software
Visual Basic 4 will be used to develop the system interface
Advice will be provided by Mr. J. Smith, Production Manager, ABC Enterprises Ltd, on the requirements for the new system
A Pentium II personal computer and printer will be used at the developer’s home for production of project documentation and for system development

General Issues
The preparation stage of the double project is normally taught over three weeks, with three sessions per week. Prior to the project commencing students should be informed of the need for them to identify a suitable project and to find a sponsor.
