Using your own organization (or one with which you are familiar), describe and analyze:

Part A: A current Human Resource problem that affects our section/department, the solution to which is within you sphere of influence. Such a problem may involve issues in, for example, employee relations; discipline; human resource planning; communications; recruitment and selection; training and development etc. but it should be capable of resolution within a short timescale. You should locate the problem in context and indicate the steps you intend to take to solve it, discuss any wider implications it may have and the timescale you are working to.

Part B: A strategic HRM issue affecting your organization. Your answer should provide a brief background to the issue and the strategic implications it presents. It should relate to the corporate goals of the organization and clearly indicate the resources and timescales involved.

There are 50 marks for each part of the assignment.
The report will be marked with reference to the following:

Use of relevant concepts and theory to construct an appropriate framework for ananlysis..
Quality and depth of argument which must contain a critical discussion of the main themes and issues identified.
Application of relevant theory and concepts to issues identified, using thes to examine the advantages/disadvantages of alternative course of action.
Clear evidence of wider reading, both in scope, range and depth, of at least 10 relevant references which would include: books; journals; articles; company documents; professional codes; internet etc.
Clear identification of key points and use of creative thinking to suggest alternative solutions.
Written in report format with relevant conclusions and recommendations.
Report must contain a good introduction, explaining clearly why the topic is important; highlighting the key issues; and explains how the topic will be addressed.
Presents a clear and focused middle section, with appropriate sub-headings.
Has word processed the report clearly, with good spelling and grammar; included any relevant diagrams; and has provided correct footnote referencing and a complete bibliography.
