Esssay Discrimination in organizations
Discrimination exists in every form of society, no matter it is Democratic or People’s Republic. Notwithstanding the majority of governments are holding a principle of discrimination rejection. Under the limitation of law, policy intendance and public supervision, at least nobody supports discrimination behavior on table. Any kind of discrimination is thought of intolerable. However, many forms of discrimination happen stealthily, especially at work. There is possible discrimination in hiring, lifting, dismissing, paying and loading. In order to hold the jobs, many people choose to surrender to discrimination, while the others do not realize the discrimination is happening (Lawson and Steven F., 2009). It would do harm to the employees, employers and the society if discrimination is ignored. alyzed. The methods the organizations take to avoid accusing from public supervision will also be shown. After that, some suggestions will be brought up for Lucy to pursue the claims of discrimination.
In Lucy’s case, Lucy was 58 and the other competitors are all younger. Without any other shortcomings and in this precondition, Lucy is knocked out by someone else. It could be assumed that the candidate who won the rivalry is surely a younger employee. That is to say, age discrimination happened to Lucy. The reason why companies prefer to use younger employees is understandable. Younger staffs are more vigorous and active, though they might be not that skillful compared with past masters. They would grow into old hands in the future. Vigorous staffs will make the entire company vigorous, and furthermore, the capability of the company gains and the quality of its products enhances. That is to say, young men to a company is like fresh blood to complement a patient, it results in a healthy body for the patient and a benefit for the company (Schneider and Christina J, 2009). That is the reason why old employees are not that popular compared with striplings. If the ambitious young staff figured out that the senior staffs are the future reflection of them, they would lost the passion to work, and it is obvious that the managers of the company had not figured this cruces out either.
Lucy is a female, while the other staffs in the company are mostly males. From this section of the case, gender discrimination is seen in existence. Gender discrimination threats the social principle of fairness. It blocks the course of the transference of human resource and destroys the balance of labor resource’s distribution, and this causes waste of human resource. It is a matter of fact that females do not act such stable as males, so they are put in a disadvantage position. To follow the correlated law, companies can not fire the female employees when they get pregnant or in some other physiological periods. The companies have to pay them fee during the employees’ absence. It causes an increase in companies’ cost, and that is the reason why females are discriminated at work (Andrew Tucker, 2009).
