Breakthrough Points of My Thesis
1. Though many scholars have probed this domain, they all introduced some review from a certain point of view, I will introduce some main causes in this domain according to a novel named A Rose for Emily, and know Faulkner and American literature well.
2. With the development of science, technology and Internet, the world become smaller and smaller, and the relation and communication become closer and more frequent, some problems also appeared, such as history and culture. The thesis aims to find out the differences in the literrature and people’s different opption of Emily’s life in the novel A Rose for Emily analyze the causes of Emily’s tragic life.

Significance of My Research
1. In order to learn English better, we must understand the relation between history and literature.
2. Novel can reflect the local cultural and living features more or less. The author will write the thesis from this point of view.
3.Novel are part of life,we can see many things in the works,which can not gain directly in our modern life.Novel reflect the ture life phenomenon that we can not say in reality.

Feasibility or the Foundation of My Research
During the course of English Literature,I have studied some knowledge about Faulkner, and acquired a strong interest in Chinese and western literature.Besides,I like to know more about the challenge analysis.
Along my undergraduate study as an English major, I have the good command of English vocabulary, grammar and so on.
With the guidance of my advisor Miss Zhang, I have read some relevant books which can help me a lot to finish my thesis.

 Methods and Approaches to Be used in My Research
In order to fulfill my research objective, i.e. to probe into the linguistic and cultural contrastive analysis between Chinese and Western animals from the film the Golden Compass, the author designs the analytical procedures as follows:

Step 1: collect and sort sufficient materials about A Rose for Emily and have also referred to enough English originals..
Step 2: analyze the causes that lead to the tragic life of Emily.
Step 3: have a detailed study on the specific factors that affect the Emily’s ending.
Step 4: conduct and write my research paper.
Step 5: follow the teacher’s advance and communicate my ideas with her in time.
