Reasons for Choosing the Title
1. The author of this thesis is a famous and great writer in American history,and his article usually tell us a deeply theory.
2. The meaning by researching this novel make us know what is people’s soul envil,and know American history clearly.
3. As English majors, we should bear the responsibility to make the communication between Chinese and English-speaking people more smooth and harmonious.We should let people know American history better so that to broad our knowledge.Besides,I am interestd in American and English literature,especially Faulkner’s short stories can make me know 30s in American history.
So I decided to choose An Analysis of the Reasons For Tragic Life of Emily
as my thesis’ topic.

To be more authoritative, in the following, I will provide some authorities’ research in the first place.
A number of researcher have explored this domain. I will make brief introduction from the following aspects.
Domestic Research
Liu Huiying,as the doctor of Chinese Modern Literature,had begun to research the domain of A Rose for Emily and gave its scientific paper that is Out of the traditional barriers of male - male literary criticism in the sense of criticism.

In recently, many western scholars or doctor, focused on Rose’s symbolic meaning, such as life. They often analyze Emilys’ life from the view of their origins.
Main Ideas of My Thesis
Generally speaking, with the development of science, technology and Internet, the world become smaller and smaller, and the relation and communication become closer and more frequent, some problems also appeared, such as history and culture. The thesis aims to find out the differences in the literrature and people’s different opption of Emily’s life in the novel A Rose for Emily analyze the causes of Emily’s tragic life.
Specifically speaking, firstly, I will introduce the novel A Rose for Emily and its author. Secondly, I will make a brief introduction about the present situation in this domain. Thirdly, I will take some specific views as examples to analyze Emily’s family or friendship. Fourthly, I will classify the personality reasons of Emily and explain the causes lead to this result.
