Margaret Atwood is one of the most prestigious contemporary Canadian writers. Born in Ottawa, Canada in 1939, Atwood attended Victoria College at the University of Toronto. She published stories and poems in the college literary journal from 1957 to 1961. After graduating with an honours degree in English, Atwood won a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship to Radcliffe College, which later became part of Harvard University.
