in on-line communication. Study on Network language is an urgent demand because of the rapid development of Internet and its huge influence on people's life, on society, on culture and so on. As a specific component in network language, net name plays an important role in discourse analysis of virtual world. It is also of great worth in rhetoric analysis. What's more, the study of it makes contribution to the study of naming practice. Therefore, it contributes a lot to the development of linguistics, especially the discourse analysis of network language.

5 Conclusion and Limitation

    From the analysis of net names of China and the United States under the theory of Hofstede's cultural dimensions theory, we compare the different national cultures in these two countries from the five dimensions -Power Distance Index (equality versus inequality),  collectivism  (versus  individualism),  uncertainty  avoidance  (versus tolerance), masculinity (versus femininity) and temporal orientation (versus Long-term orientation). Through this paper, we try to find the degree of how the virtual reality reflects the real_ one. Net name, as a kind of mirror, can show some trace of culture and language more or less. Net name is an important part of identity and identity is a kind of product of culture. That's why the analysis on net names of different nations can be helpful to reveal the trend of development of society and culture. Hofstede's cultural
dimensions theory is a good framework to compare the net names of China and the United States so as to draw some conclusion of different cultures.
