Teacher
Education Program is of great significance in the education programs mainly because it plays a very important, if not decisive, role, in the preparation of a student teacher for future service and its effects and efficiency directly influence the quality of program student teachers, which further is an attributive factor to the school education quality.
Program evaluation, as a comparatively new field in applied linguistics, has gaining a more and more important role in EFL research. Firstly, the results of a program evaluation can benefit a wide audience both internal and external to the program, including funding agencies, program designers, executives, teachers, students and even parents; In addition, program can serve wide purposes and give a better understanding of a program. For instance, it can inform formative as well as summative purpose, can ensure adherence to standards and outcomes. Last but not least, the evaluation results can contribute a lot to the continuous improvement of a program.
Among all the stakeholders of a teacher education program from the funding agencies to prospective students, the program students deserve to claim the main role and their voices, which are expected to be insightful and inspiring; about the program should and have to be heard. To begin with, the students are exposed to the whole program process and thus have the most accountable experiences; In addition, the quality of the students receiving the program is a key indicator of the effects and efficiency of the\ program; Last but not least, the students achievements is a determinative factor in the success of their future classroom teaching, where the future of a country is forged.
Due to the 3 points mentioned above, it is vital for us to know about the impact of a teacher education program, and put to us the following questions: Is the program satisfactory and fruitful? What are the strengths and weak points? and based on those results what changes can be made for the improvement of the program?
1.1 Research background
In accordance with the strategic plan "to give priority to education and turn China into a country rich in human recourses" which was proposed in the 17th National Congress of the CPC, National
Outline for Medium and Long-term Education Reform (2010-2020) was drafted in 2009 and finalized in 2010 by Chinese government. According to the outline, education reform, centered on quality enhancement, was to be carried out on all educational levels, such as pre-school, compulsory, high school, higher.
