In the second place, these two websites lack service sections. Despite the diversification has become part of these two websites and they have been in continuous improvement, but compared with Western media the service parts on these two websites are still very limited and in lack of diversity. Certain categories such as Chinese culture, tourism, business, study which foreigners are quite interested in are not rich in information and not comprehensive enough in introduction. Some essential information services such as online booking, a variety of online financial services, and other practical e-commerce services are neglected on these two English news websites.

In the third place, nowadays, many foreign news websites are not only rich in content but also sufficient in online services (Pavlik, JV, 2001). Anybody can register as member and order emails with the latest news and information they need from the news website. While for China Daily and Xinhua English version, there are mainly static news, it’s suitable for ordinary people to search for information, but its inconvenient for foreign journalists and institutions to know more about the websites and China. In this area, the China Daily and Xinhua English version can provide unique and special electronic information to readers and arrange webpages which foreign journalists are concerned with relating to different areas.

In conclusion, it has been fully recognized that the Internet has great potential and advantages in news coverage, it strengthened propaganda of a country or a community to the outside world by taking the advantage of the Internet as well as the network technologies together with it. Moreover, the functions of the Internet and network technologies adopted by these two websites in order to make them more effective have be shown and analyzed.
